College Network Downtime on July 24

On Thursday, July 24th, the office of Management Information and Network Services (MINS) will be performing annual server maintenance. Regular maintenance of college computer systems is important to keeping a high quality of service and maximum uptime. The majority of systems have already been updated with no disruption of service. However, the following systems require downtime to complete necessary patches and upgrades.

eBear - the Barnard College portal and associated applications will be unavailable from 12:00 - 2:00PM

www - the public Barnard College website will be unavailable from 3:30PM - 5:30PM. All visitors to http://www.barnard.edu will be redirected to a temporary maintenance page during this downtime window.

Firewall - the enterprise firewall protecting our server room will be rebooted immediately following the www updates, at approximately 5:30PM. All MINS services will be unavailable for 15-20 minutes, including e-mail, www, file sharing (ARTEMIS), Colleague and Benefactor, eBear, and all other MINS supported applications. Sulzberger and Elliott wireless will also be unavailable. If everything has gone well, we expect network services to be available at 6:00PM.

Internet service to outside the campus will NOT be affected by this reboot.
