The Encyclopaedia of Islam

Covers the religion, history, politics, geography, ethnography, and culture of the
Islamic world, as well as the topography and monuments of the major towns and cities of various Islamic countries. Geographical and historical scope encompasses the old Arabo-Islamic empire, the Islamic countries of Iran, Central Asia, the Indian sub-continent and Indonesia, the Ottoman Empire and all modern Islamic states. The online edition covers volumes 1-11 of the 2nd edition of the print encyclopaedia.
